Syngas produced by natural gas or coal gasification is used to separate high purity CO and a small amount of by-products such as hydrogen, carbonyl syngas, and methane through the cryogenic method. At present, there are mainly two methods of methane washing and partial condensation. The former has higher extraction rate but higher energy consumption.
The raw hydrogen and high-pressure nitrogen of ammonia plants are mainly used to produce pure synthetic ammonia (n2: h2 = 1: 3) and a small amount of by-products such as methane.
